MEET WILL:
HIS
STORY & LEGACY

Get to Know The Inspiration Behind Our Mission

MISSION & HISTORY.

William Scallon passed away at the young age of 14 on December 31, 2023, after a dirt bike accident in Gilbert, AZ. Will was adopted at birth by Greg and Stephanie Scallon on September 29, 2009. In his later years, Will was known to his family, friends, coaches, and mentors as genuine, funny, loyal, kind, and a young man of character.

His favorite activity was playing football and he had dreams to one day play at the NFL level. Graciously, God blessed Will with size, speed, talent, and most importantly work ethic. Will began playing football at the young age of 5 with his preschool friends, which to this day remain his longest lasting friendships. He moved onto tackle football at the age of 10 and played for 4 years for the Chandler Gilbert Tigers. Next year, he had aspirations of playing with the Casteel Colts, where he attended school.

Will's faith in God was unwavering and he carried it with him daily and onto the field into every game. Will brought joy to people's hearts through his ability to make them laugh, his contagious smile, and his positive outlook on life. Will's heart was as genuine as it could possibly be, and he drew good, solid people to him as friends and teammates. He was a defender of the underdog, the supporter of a friend, and an advocate for justice. The thing he despised most was to see his momma cry. Will was and continues to be a role model for many... and he will continue to touch the hearts of those who hold onto his memory for years to come.

"What I will always remember about Will is that he was all arms and all legs with an infectious smile; awe that awesome smile; a smile that a coach, teacher, or friend could not help but notice. That smile is going to be missed by all of us.

Will’s athletic ability was smooth, graceful, and he moved with such great fluidity on the field at practice, at training sessions, and in the games that he played. This combined with his strong academic achievements in the classroom. Will was the epitome of what we know a student-athlete to be.

Will was a listener; he was coachable, and he wanted to be great; at practice he would say “Coach Z what do I need to work on today in order to be better tomorrow and to be prepared for the upcoming game.” I would reply; just keep doing what you are doing, and you will be fine and again he’d hit me with that Big Will smile.

Will was a pleaser, he did not want to disappoint others and he did not want to

disappoint me, the coaches and most of all his teammates, he would get upset if he felt he’d let his teammates down. Will would have done anything or played any position on the field if he knew it would have helped his team."

A Forever Friend

"I looked up to Will, one, because he was taller than me so really I had no choice, but also because of who he was. A great friend and a great person to others. He was so goofy and funny- He made every situation fun and adventurous. He would always push me out of my comfort zone and get me to try new things.

Will was also an amazing athlete and worked hard at it every day. He pushed himself to be better and better. He even earned the nickname 'Freight Train' when we played football as kids [because] he was so incredibly fast. He definitely had a natural talent and was one of the best."
